DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED TO TRANSPORT PETS IN PHILIPPINES

The Philippines has specific entry requirements for dogs, cats, birds, and other pets, overseen by the BAI.

DOG AND CATS

Dogs and cats are the most commonly transported pets. To bring them into the Philippines, you need:

  • Microchip identification: Strongly recommended (ISO compliant).

  • Valid rabies vaccination certificate: Rabies vaccination must be given at least 30 days before travel but not older than 12 months.

  • Veterinary health certificate: Issued by a licensed vet within 10 days of departure.

  • Import permit from the BAI: Mandatory and must be obtained before travel.

  • Quarantine: Pets may be subject to inspection upon arrival, and if documentation is incomplete, quarantine will be required.

⚠️Special rule: Certain airlines may have additional restrictions on pet travel within the Philippines due to the archipelago’s geography.

BIRDS

Bringing birds into the Philippines is heavily restricted:

  • BAI import permit required.

  • Veterinary health certificate stating the bird is free of avian influenza and Newcastle disease.

  • CITES permits required for endangered or exotic bird species.

  • Possible 30-day quarantine depending on origin country.

⚠️Important: The Philippines has strict controls on bird imports due to avian influenza risks. Some species are not permitted.

SMALL MAMMALS (RODENTS, RABBITS, FERRETS)

For small mammals, requirements include:

  • Veterinary health certificate within 10 days of travel.

  • Import permit from BAI required for all small pets.

  • Rabies vaccination certificate mandatory for ferrets.

  • Rabbits and rodents may not require rabies vaccines but must be certified healthy and parasite-free.

⚠️Special rule: Some exotic small mammals are restricted or banned under Philippine wildlife laws. Always verify before travel.

MOST  TRANSPORTED ANIMALS IN PHILIPPINES

The most common pets we transport to and from the Philippines include:

  • Dogs: Popular breeds include Shih Tzus, Pomeranians, Golden Retrievers, and Aspins (Philippine native dogs).

  • Cats: Persian cats, Siamese cats, and domestic shorthairs are widely kept.

  • Birds: Parrots and cockatoos, though subject to heavy restrictions, are transported under special permits.

  • Small mammals: Rabbits and hamsters are popular pets locally, but imports require permits.

Our experienced team ensures that every journey complies with Philippine import rules, keeping pets safe, comfortable, and stress-free.
