DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED TO TRANSPORT PETS IN SLOVAKIA

As an EU member state, Slovakia follows European Union regulations for pet entry and movement.

DOG AND CATS

Dogs and cats are the most frequent pets travelling in Slovakia. The requirements include:

Microchip identification compliant with ISO standards.

Valid rabies vaccination, administered at least 21 days before travel.

EU Pet Passport or veterinary health certificate from an authorised vet.

Clinical examination to confirm the pet’s health for travel.

Tapeworm (Echinococcus) treatment for dogs when required by destination rules.

BIRDS

Bird transport in Slovakia requires specific veterinary controls:
