DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED TO TRANSPORT PETS IN POLAND

Poland applies EU standards for the entry and movement of pets.

At Animal Transport EU, we manage all paperwork and veterinary steps, ensuring compliance with Polish and European regulations.

DOG AND CATS

Dogs and cats are the most common pets transported to and from Poland. Requirements include:

  • Microchip identification (ISO 11784/11785 compliant).

  • Valid rabies vaccination, at least 21 days before travel.

  • EU Pet Passport or official veterinary health certificate issued by an authorised vet.

  • Clinical examination to confirm the animal is healthy for travel.

  • Tapeworm (Echinococcus) treatment for dogs when required by destination.

We coordinate directly with Polish veterinary authorities to ensure smooth approval of all documents.

⚠️Breed bans apply (Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, Rottweiler, etc.); owners must comply with strict laws.

BIRDS

Transporting birds to Poland requires special attention:

  • Veterinary health certificate issued within 48 hours of travel.

  • CITES permits for exotic or protected species (parrots, macaws, cockatoos, etc.).

  • Notification to Polish border veterinary authorities.

  • Possible quarantine measures for birds entering from non-EU countries.

We arrange all necessary permits, inspections, and veterinary controls for bird transport.

SMALL MAMMALS (RODENTS, RABBITS, FERRETS)

Small animals are also frequently transported to and from Poland. Requirements include:

  • Veterinary health certificate (within 10 days of travel).

  • Rabies vaccination and microchip (mandatory for ferrets).

  • Rabbits and rodents do not need rabies vaccination but must be clinically healthy.

  • A limit of five animals per non-commercial transport.

We make sure that all regulations are properly met, guaranteeing legal, safe, and stress-free journeys for small pets.

MOST  TRANSPORTED ANIMALS IN POLAND

In Poland, the most frequently transported pets are dogs and cats, especially between major cities such as Warsaw, Kraków, Wrocław, and Gdańsk.

We also provide safe transport for birds (parrots, cockatiels, budgies, canaries, lovebirds, etc.) and small mammals, including ferrets, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, and other rodents.

Each journey is personalised to the animal’s age, breed, temperament, and specific needs, guaranteeing maximum safety and comfort during travel.
