DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED TO TRANSPORT PETS IN FINLAND
Pet transport to or within Finland must comply with Finnish and EU regulations.
At Animal Transport EU, we handle all veterinary visits, paperwork, and customs checks to guarantee full compliance.
DOG AND CATS

For dogs and cats travelling to Finland, you need:

An EU Pet Passport or Animal Health Certificate.

Microchip identification compliant with ISO standards.
-
Valid rabies vaccination, administered at least 21 days before entry.
-
Tapeworm (Echinococcus) treatment for dogs, mandatory and must be administered 1–5 days before entering Finland.

Veterinary health check confirming the animal is fit to travel.
We coordinate directly with Finnish Food Authority (Ruokavirasto) requirements to ensure a smooth process.
BIRDS

For bird transport into Finland:

A veterinary health certificate issued shortly before departure.

CITES permits for exotic and protected species (parrots, cockatoos, macaws, etc.).

Advance notification to Finnish veterinary border authorities.

Birds from non-EU countries may require quarantine.

Rabbits and rodents do not need rabies vaccination but must be declared clinically healthy.

A maximum of 5 animals per non-commercial transport is permitted.
